The redevelopment of the Paper Mill in Alphington looks to be our biggest and most demanding project yet.
With structural steel for almost 150 townhouses (approximately 140 Tonne) due to be installed this year, DH Steel offers awesome capacity to fabricate and deliver projects of any size.
The Structural Steel for this 11 unit development was detailed, fabricated and installed by DH Steel.
A very tricky installation due to no crane access available, the steel was lifted into position with a combination of duct-lifters and reach trucks.
DH Steel have designed, fabricated and installed the front breezeway façade for the Wellington St, Collingwood project.
It consists of extensive RHS framework holding over 7 Tonne of laser cut plate to support the brick snaps. Each panel was aligned perfectly so that each brick course was constant across the entire façade.
A 24 Townhouse development with approximately 50 Tonne of Structural Steel across 3 levels.
The First Floor and Second Floor Structural Steel for this project was delivered and installed in one installation with our own crane truck.

Daniel Heaney is the Projects Manager at DH Steel. With a background mainly in Engineering Drafting and Fabrication, Daniel started DH Steel with Dickson in 2014. He has over 10 years experience in the Structural Steel Industry and oversees all aspects of the business from the initial quote, drafting, fabrication and ensuring that the project is installed correctly and on time.
Graduated from Melbourne University with Agricultural Engineering Degree in 1980. Has over 40 years experience in engineering. Has been supporting DH Steel with it’s growth since 2014. Background includes experience in; general engineering, manufacture of forestry equipment and supply of spare parts, hydraulics, electronics, computers, pneumatics, structural engineering and the wool industry. Experienced crane operator with Franna, slewing and truck loading cranes.
Kate joined DH Steel in 2017 as a Structural Steel Detailer and has a diverse background, spanning more than a decade in technical drafting across a number of industries. Originally from the Philippines where she worked as an Interior Designer, Kate moved to New Zealand in 2011 and spent six years working on commercial projects as a Structural Steel Detailer.
Luke Macklin is a project assistant at DH Steel. With a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and a minor degree in Environmental Sustainability, Lukes role at DH Steel includes Estimating and Project delivery, with his experience in the construction industry Luke is able to produce results sustainably and with accuracy.
Has over 30 years experience in administration and finance mainly in the fields of engineering. Has been supporting DH Steel with its growth since 2014. Background includes supporting the following industries; general engineering, manufacture of forestry equipment and supply of spare parts, hydraulics, structural engineering and the wool industry.
The Kobelco FC50 450 kg “Baby” crawler is a remote controlled baby crawler for working in extremely tight areas. With a boom length of 5 meters it can lift 185 kilos at a 3.5 meters radius.
(Capable of carrying 12m beams)
The rear-mounted Fassi can lift 3,400kg at 8.0m, 1000kg at 17.0m, and 330 kilograms at a 25.8m radius.
3.5m tray for smaller deliveries, with a rear mounted fassi capable of lifting 410kg at 5.0 metres for smaller jobs or jobs with hard to reach places for the larger crane.
